Bloomin heck,

I woke up to the sad news today that old glitter glove has passed on-

RIP Michael Jackson (1958–2009)

I wasn’t going to post up about this-as it’s everywhere today, as you would expect it to be.

But I was going to do a music post today and I cannot go without giving props to the moonwalking, crotch-grabbing megastar -he was a flippin’ legend and despite whatever may have gone on in recent years with the man, his music was an inspiration, enjoyed by almost everyone on the planet.jackson-by-warhol

The controversial ‘king of pop’ sold over 750 million records, he was one of the late-twentieth century’s most prominent cultural icons and the subject of artworks by everyone from Andy Warhol and Jeff Koons to Slater Bradley, Banksy and Candice Breitz.

As a kid I remember getting up at ridiculous o’ clock in the morning to put ‘Off the Wall’ on the record player and dance on me Ma’s dining table with me white terry toweling socks on sliding all over the place trying to get the moves down (And I am still trying to get the moves down. Although I am still banned from dancing on the dining room table, and also using the record player after trying to scratch ‘Turtle Power’ by Partners in Kryme a few years later.Anyway, I digress.)

But, yep, I don’t want to prattle on too much…Let me just say,

Thanks for the music and the memories Mike-and if I can get a bit more practice in before I pop my clogs I will see you in Heaven for a dance off.
