Yo Yo Yo!contributed-jbjunglegroove

What up! Sorry for my lack of posts recently, I’ve been crazy busy getting some stuff together for a mini solo show I am gonna sling up at the end of this month- I won’t get into the details of that right now-but don’t fret, I will keep y’all posted…..

I will get back on the posting game full throttle this week…….

Firstly I thought I would hit you all with a music related post, as I can’t remember the last time me or the kid Tripswitch dropped a hot link for yo lugholes.

Whilst I have been getting mad crafty this week I have been hitting up one of my favourite websites:

We Funk Radio

WEFUNK is a weekly radio mix-show, hosted and produced for more than a decade by Montreal DJs Professor Groove and DJ Static. Its been going since way back in ‘96 and serves up the finest in hip hop, funk & soul from old to new, classics, rare gems, new releases and more. You can tune in any time to their archive section and choose from over 500 two hour long shows – its flippin great for digging up those old favourites you had forgotten about. My necks near breaking point after a week of heavy head nodding.

On We Funk they also have a feature named ’sample moments’ where they highlight the original samples from well known hip hop tracks, which is great for nerding it up and impressing all your mates with your encyclopedic noggin.

MaryJaneGirls1

And if you like that- you will bloomin love Who Sampled? An ace site where you can browse artists’ tracks to find out where the original samples came from. A brilliant creation which will solve many a heated discusion and head scratching session down the pub.

Recently i have been rocking Redman’s debut ‘Whut Thee Album’ from all the way back in ‘92. Its up on itunes now for about 5.99 (bargain).

I will leave you with a track from that album: ‘Tonights da Night’ feat. Hurricane G which takes the sample from Mary Jane Girls, ‘All Night Long’
